What custom cabinets cost
Your exact price comes from the drawing of your room; three photos get you a ballpark first.
What changes the price
How much wall the cabinets cover
This is the biggest factor. Upper and lower cabinets both count.
The wood you pick
Some species cost more than others, and a clear board with no knots costs more than a rustic one.
Painted or stained
A painted finish usually takes more coats and more sanding between them than a stain and a clear coat.
The door style
A plain, flat door takes less work than a raised panel or a glass front.
How the doors sit
Doors set inside the frame take more fitting than doors that close over it.
An island
It adds more cabinets, and its back and ends get finished too.
Ceiling height
Taller uppers take more wood, and a second row up to the ceiling means more boxes and doors.
Questions to ask any cabinet shop
- Where are the cabinets built, and who finishes them? We build and finish every one ourselves, in our Coal City shop.
- Do I approve a drawing and a finish sample before you build? Yes. You approve both, and you keep a copy of each.
- Is the warranty in writing, and how long does it last? Yes. The cabinets are covered against defects for as long as you own your home, and we stand behind the finish, the hardware and our installation for two years. Read the warranty
- What happens if a cabinet doesn't fit? If we measured your room, we fix it free. Just tell us within 30 days of delivery. Read the warranty
- Will I get a written contract with the price and the delivery week? Yes. It lists your price, what we're building and the week we bring your cabinets.
